Scroll down to find information about Private Lessons, Group Lessons, Recitals , my trademark Program
and Repertoire Development form as well as what you'll discover at my Studio BLOG!
Overview of Private Lessons
During PRIVATE TUTORIALS students are encouraged
to explore their own unique learning styles. We'll discover together the combination of visual, audio, tactile and analytical
strengths and weaknesses found in each musician and build a curriculum to suit their specific needs.
Each student is required to bring a 1" binder with looseleaf and dividers where we will begin
to establish a musical foundation of lesson times, practice times, technique, theory, creative exercises, group lessons, historical
information and repertoire.
Over the course of an Academic Musical Year, I will write weekly notes, give handouts and request
technical and creative exercises to enhance the student's musical journey and growth.
My BEGINNER students will often engage in a "parental partnership" where one
or both parents will accompany the student to a lesson. This is neither a requirement nor discouraged; it is solely
dependent upon the progress and enthusiasm for such a partnership from the student/parent perspective and the goals that have
been set per student.
Overview of Group Lessons
During our GROUP LESSONS, students experience a
more social setting on their musical journey. The sense of a MUSICAL COMMUNITY is developed and
an important aspect to the longevity of the students' participation and enjoyment of piano lessons is created and explored.
Beyond the concept of a "Master Class", Group Lessons provide students opportunities
to grow their individual skills by learning from each other, sharing thoughts, ideas and questions with their musical peers
while expanding their musical 'frame of reference' beyond my studio walls!
Older, more advanced students are given opportunities to be "Team Leaders" while the
Beginner and Intermediate students discover their place on the musical journey and continue to pursue their own eventual leadership
role. We ALL have something to learn from each other!
A variety of topics are covered during our four, 2-hour Group Lessons: history, musical
authenticity in performance, technique, rhythm, sight reading, listening/aural training, creative exercises and recital/exam
preparation.
Overview of Recitals
We host 3 RECITALS per Academic Year.
Our first Recital is the "Christmas Concert"
held at the beginning of December.
In April and early May, we look forward to participating in the APTA Non-Competitive
Festival (for grade 1 and up).
And finally, we hold a "Year End Recital" for all of our students,
family and friends. This Recital is typically 'theme based' and students prepare anything from Sonatinas to
Contemporary Pop music to Original Compositions. Afterward, a time of socializing and treats provides a delightful 'sigh
of relief' for all of the hard work, dedication and perseverence displayed by students and their greatest supporters!

Each student can enter into a unique musical experience at any level
of skill. During the course of my studies and certification, I have developed a system of Program Development called
"THE CYCLICAL FORM OF STANDARD REPERTOIRE"
Each Academic Year, my students will engage in a variety of musical achievements based on this
form. Between private lessons, group lessons, recitals and the use of my STUDIO BLOG, students encounter
music, theory and grow their appreciation within the musical context of the 4 major historical eras: Baroque,
Classical, Romantic and Modern. As the Cycle grows, so too, does the students' musical vocabulary!
Repertoire pieces as well as compositional and technical exercises are based on the Cyclical
Form and chosen from a wide variety of publications (i.e. London College of Music, Royal Conservatory of Toronto, Conservatory
Canada, Faber and Faber, Bastien, Hal Leonard and a growing library of resources available at my studio!)
Every student learns to appreciate music outside of their listening comfort while developing
refined playing skills to accomplish their goals.

What is a BLOG ?!?! Well ... it's a way for
me as a teacher to create a more continuous line of communication with my students and their families. It's also a FUN
way for students to connect with their Piano Studio and each other.
On my BLOG students and parents will find supplementary information to Private
and Group Lessons, opportunities to win prizes for answering bonus questions, links to fabulous sites that will enhance your
learning experience, posted photos and videos from Studio Events and a comment forum where students and parents can leave
questions, opinions, suggestions or just say 'hello'!
During the year, I will send out email reminders to check out any updates on my BLOG.
